Research on the Role of Private International Law for building the trustworthy Global Value Chain

The current state of concurrent public law

The Global Value Chain (GVC) is now a crucial infrastructure in the world economy. With increasing concern for environmental and human rights protection, public regulations applicable to the entire GVC have been introduced in major countries, making a state of concurrent public laws inevitable.

The limitations of conventional interpretations

Until now, public law has been understood to be applied individually and territorially according to the laws of each country. However, for GVCs that encompass companies operating across multiple countries, such an approach could lead to significant confusion.

Inspired by international private law

In this research, we aim to develop a methodology for public law selection with the goal of establishing appropriate governance for GVCs. Drawing inspiration from the ideas of international private law and the use of AI, we seek to present this methodology as international guidelines.

Given the premise of concurrent public laws for environmental and human rights protection, there is a need for the development of a methodology for public law selection with the aim of establishing appropriate governance for Global Value Chains
